Random Windows 7 Event 41 BSOD

Hello everyone,

I'm getting the same old Windows 7 Event 41 BSOD. I literally don't know where to start because when my computer crashes like that, it doesn't even leave a Minidump behind, so I imagine something gets hosed hard when it happens. In fact, I don't even get a blue screen of death - the computer freezes and starts playing garbage data over my computer speakers. Not even the Event Logs can give me some semblance of a clue.

When I use the computer, it very randomly crashes. The computer can go four days to as little as eight hours at a time before it does this.

I'm sorry I can't be much help on this, but I'm literally at a loss for ideas. I'll report any data you need.

You should check your SATA cables (or purchase new ones), as well as all your connections internally.

This has happened on two operating systems: The Windows 7 x64 RC1 and the retail version of Windows 7 x64 as well.

No, this is the only operating system that I've tried it on.

I've just noticed something concerning the cables: I realized that the hard drive I've installed the operating system on (C:) is called "Disk 1" and the backup hard drive is called "Disk 0" (D:). I think this might be the problem. It would explain why the operating system is not writing minidumps.

I was having the exact same problem with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. After searching the internet for over a week I found a forum which suggested upping the Northbridge voltage in the BIOS by one setting. For me that meant moving it from 1.1v to 1.12 (I think). I also changed the voltage setting for the CPU from Auto to 1.265v which is what the reading in the BIOS was when I changed it.
Since doing this I have not had a crash. OK it has only been two days but it had got to the point where it wouldn't stay on for longer than about 5 mins so two days is pretty good!! I do a lot of 3D work and it is having no problem with heavy models and renders.
