Installed 7 retail now cannot access D:

OK im getting desperate!! I have installed (yes a legitimate version) of 7 and after install Lost access to Drive D: I have tried safe mode to change Drive letter and security But there is no security Tab? I have tried all ways to take Ownership and no success (safe mode/ Command prompt) when I go into device manager I get this picture? It seems 7 has partitioned my drive and encrypted it? Any help will be appreciated!!

Hello, Welcome!

Is there a possibility you accidentally formatted the partition during installation? I hope not, but if you did not do a full format (only a quick format), there is a good chance you can recover at least most of your data.

I would try using free recovery tools, such as Diskdigger. If that does not work, download the trial version of Kernel Data Recovery, and you can determine what can be recovered before purchasing the full version.

Do you actually have any data on the drive? Also, have you tried booting into Linux to see if you could access the drive?

Hang on, before you do anything, realize that the more the drive is written to, the lower chance you can recover your data.

I know I definately didnt format it! I disconnetced drive (as I usually do ) before running kill disk DOD. on C: I powered down comp. reconnected then installed 7 on C: once installed I went to recover documents,photos, favorites and such the drive had a weird partitioning and was not accessable? I have seen others have a similar issue but all they had to do is take ownership or rename. Neither worked for my situation. I will try What Jonathan had suggested and let you know! (say a prayer for me LOL!)

You have it setup as a dynamic disk, i'm betting that you had the c: setup as part of the dynamic disk as well. If that is the case then you have lost all the data without a chance to get it back. Dynamic disks are never a good idea.
