Constant freezing.
I've been using windows 7 ultimate for about a month and a half now and all was going fine up until a while ago.
It started that it wouldn't boot up so I had to do a startup repair, this same thing happened to me a few days ago on boxing day. This time i just did a "boot from last known good startup" and it seemed to work ok.
Then the computer started to randomly freeze if I would open some media for example, play music, watch videos or even watch a video on YouTube. It would just freeze at random points.
Then it started getting worse, it would freeze even when the computer is doing nothing and I am away from it. It started doing this once or twice per day and I couldn't find the problem.
The other day was the worst part of it as it froze six times in one day, I found some other people having freezing issues on google, they were told to look at the event viewer but when I try this, i get told it's not running. The fix to this was to take ownership of two folders, the logs folder inside the windows folder and the logfiles folder in the system32 folder which I did and it worked.
So earlier tonight, it froze again and I thought at least I can see why now but nope, as soon as I boot back into windows, the event viewer gets the same old error come back.
"Event log service is unavailable, verify that the service is running."
So I can't even see why this is happening, I tried a repair install which is just upgrading windows but ironically it froze at 6%....twice.
I really don't want to have to do a fresh reinstall of windows but if it gets worse then I guess i would have to, a system restore was also recommended but I can't remember when this started to happen as like i said, it started out randomly. Now it just freezes whenever it wants to.
I'm hoping someone from here can help me on this as it's really frustrating and I can't find any help anywhere, this is worse than the issues I was having with vista and I thought all that was over and done with.
Any help is very much apprieciated!
