Windows 7 Crashes when CD Inserted

Hey guys.. I just recently finished up a build of mine (First time building a PC) and everything seems to have gone well except for one MAJOR problem.

Whenever I enter a CD to install something Windows 7 crashes. Every Time.

I've re-installed Windows 7 multiple times, installed GPU drivers through my hard drive (To see if it made a difference.. I really have no clue what to do its been 3-4 hours that this has been happening)

I've also tried to boot into safe mode... No dice there either.

Could this have anything to do with the fact I've yet to call to get my license changed and it keeps asking me for "another key" ??

If it doesn't... heres my motherboard ram and CPU.

No, I don't think that it has anything to do with activation. Not sure what the problem is, but I would check the connections on the Optical drives, and also check with the manufacturer, to see if there is a firmware update.

Instead of giving partial specs in your post, it would be much better if you filled out all of your specs by clicking the "My System Specs" in the lower left of one of your posts, then the "Update your System Spec" in the lower left of that window.

Is it a CD drive, DVD Drive or a combo DVD/Cd drive ?

Make & Model ? Latest firmware update ?

Not 100% sure on the firmware.. give me a sec to walk upstairs and crack open my case and all that good stuff.

I used this same exact drive and hard drive when I last installed Windows 7 on my old motherboard... I had no issues what-so-ever.

Thanks for your help to everyone in this thread.. I guess it was just the driver disk for my motherboard. as EVERY other program / driver / disk that I used worked 100% fine.

System is running great!
