Windows 7 64 freeze on first screen

I presently have a Core2 Duo on an ASUS P5P43 TDPro with a HIS 5770 vid card, 4 sticks of Mushkin 2GB DDR-3 and all the other usual devices on the board. I run 2 SATA 3GB/s hard drives in RAID 0 along with a spare drive on the IDE channel that holds XP as an alternate boot.

The system runs flawlessly under Win 7 - 64 Ultimate. When I install my Core2 Quad processor, it freezes on the first Windows screen on boot (the one that has the throbbing window). I've already returned the C2Q to Intel and I think they claim it's OK and sent the same one back. Anybody else have the same issues with the Core2 Quad in a similar configuration?

Hi and welcome
You installed win 7 with core 2, switched cpu, with a raid? you need to install different Mobo drivers, etc. I am unsure as to what exactly you did explain

had the core2 quad on the computer originally (I built it new because I was changing to W7). Worked for a while and then started crashing. At one point, I could get it to load to the point I spoke of above, but it wouldn't complete the load process. I updated all drivers, tried newer bios, put old video card back in, tried to reload entire OS on clean install, everything. Put old CPU back in and everything worked like a champ. Thought I'd try the new CPU again and it's doing the same thing. All this after returning the CPU to Intel and getting it back.

Here's the bottom line: If the MB says it can handle a Core2 Quad, there are no posts on the entire internet about this MB having problems with the Core2 Quad, the Core2 Quad fails on the MB, the Core2 Duo works just fine, then is or is not the problem the Core2 Quad?????????????

I guess a simpler way of asking is this.

The motherboard is supposed to support both CPU's (Core2 Duo and Core2 Quad). If I replace the Core2 Duo with the Quad, should the OS (Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit) even care?

Are there any differences in drivers when switching CPU? If so, shouldn't Windows 7 pick up on that on bootup anyway?

Here's the minidumps. Not sure if it will help though, because it never went to a BSOD, it just froze up and I had to hard reboot.
