Win 7 too fast? Something is wrong here...

Not sure how this has happened, but when Win 7 starts up - it is flashing, rapidly (the coloured logo) and then when it gets to the log in screen, the little hourglass(well, round thing) is spinning so fast, it is like it is on speed or something.

When I go to type in the password to log in, each letter I type repeats to fill the entire screen log in box. I managed to get into the Win 7 after using the "hold Shift 8sec" thing for the keyboard, but win 7 after that is crazy. Any click I make is like 100 clicks, everything is running at hyper speed. I cannot access my CD rom and clicking on firefox or win explorer flashes rapidly and opens and closes quicker then I can keep up.
I am running a dual boot with win xp (which I am using now), so it seems my keyboard, mouse and motherboard are alright.
I tried a REPAIR with Win 7, and it said there was a START UP error that was fixed, but it is not and things are still running at hyper speed.
This is after an update last night when turning off the computer - it updated automatically.

Any ideas?
Do I need to reformat?
I am going to flash my bios and see if that has any effect on it.
Using Asus M4A785-M mobo, AMD X4 620, XFX 8600 GT video card.
Also I updated the drivers on the video card while in Win 7 today (although it was going crazy) and the keyboard and mouse drivers as well, but no dice.

I did do that, with the newest one from the website, but heck I will try again - I am going to try and take the original driver as well.
It does sounds like a graphic driver issue, but the problem is fixing it - Iwill try in Safe mode if I can

Does it do the same thing in safe mode? If not probably is a graphics driver issue

Use Driver Sweeper if you update in the future.

Ok, I am having the issue again. I took out the video card and tried what worked last time, but this time - no dice. I cannot even get it to resolve in Safemode.
Lucky I have dual boot (XP). I don't know how to solve this issue. I removed the Nvidia from the add/remove programs, but that didn't seem to help. I am going to try Driver Sweeper and see what happens, but I don't know why my system did not revert back to the motherboard drivers.
Also when the system is running in hyper speed, I cannot update any of the drivers - it says 'The drivers that not been modified' , not sure why this is happening again...

anyone on this?
