When ever I try to transfer files between hard drives (external or internal) windows freezes entierly, requireing a forced restart before becoming usable again. It will also periodicaly stop recognising attached USB hard drives. It is very similar to a bug Microsoft fixed with hotfix KB976972, however in my case this fix made no difference.
I am using an Acer Aspire 8735G with Windows 7 x64, 4GB ram, Core 2 Duo CPU.
As I keep nearly all my data on external drives you can understand how frustrating this problem is to me and so any help would be greatly appreciated.
