I looked at the info zig and changed it to small file dump would this be correct ?

If so i guess i would have the kids play spore so i can get a new dump to send.

Its not from a BOSD when the system locks up i go to task manager and make the dump there

Hello again i have tried all day to get this dump file under the 8MB. I have tried WinZip and WinRar I changed the setting in advanced tab to make a minidump the problem is i think i could be wrong is that its not a hard crash. I made this dump from the task manager from the unresponsive program and i guess its just to big to zip under 8mb.

I have setup a account at MegaUpload its 200 MB file i know its a long shot, but if anyone could be so kind to upload it and try to help with this problem it would be grate.

    Thanks

Sorry Niklas, the big log is too large for me to download at the moment.

Did you purge the log before you configured the small log?

It might be better to back up all of your log's, make sure that the current log's are empty and then recreate the issue. This way you should only have a small log to upload.

If you can get a smaller one, I'll definitely take a look for you.

This was a small one the last one was 1,789,890 something like that this was 709,976 around that and zipped to 298,345

    In my C:/windows ( I have no mini-dump folder )

The dump i get is from users/app/temp Because there is no BSOD i have to use the task manager right click the unresponsive program and create a dump that way. maybe that's why its bigger ?

Anyways if you can at some point download that and look it would be grate, no rush if not i understand.

    good day

I see what you mean, in testing today my dumps created the same way as yours as large (300MB+).

Mate, I really can't get hold of that 200MB file, I'm just about to move from Australia to Singapore and have limited bandwidth at the moment.

Moving forward, can I ask why you wanted to upload it in the first place? i.e. what is the problem with Spore, we can still troubleshoot it to some degree without the dump file.

No Problem with the file i know its a lot to ask, anyways about spore my kids play that game and at radom times it just stops responding. I am able to ctrl alt del out of it and end task without having to restart the PC.

They have other games and don't seem to have as many problems with them. Spore will lockup every time they play it be 10 mins in or 2 hours in. other games have locked up a few times in 3 months so i am not to worried about that.

    Games they play
    Spore
    batman
    codwaw
    codmw2
    doom3
    crysis
    dragon age

IE locked up before but i use firefox now and have not hade a problem with it
Explorer locked up a few times
    wmail used to lock up
    excel did 1 time

This was a new install using a OEM windows7 64 bit OS on a new HDD 3 months ago

I can run memtest86 + v4 all night i have let it run for 9 hours
I can run intels burn test on high without problems
I can run prime95 for hours no problems

Not sure at this point where to start to fix the problems of stuff locking up at random, or to just deal with it to i reinstall. i like to do a clean install every year.

The thing that gets me is the PC can go 9 to 10 days without a problem then i get a few lock ups then it runs good.

Anyways any input would be grate!

    Thanks

And BTW i have my BIOs updated to F6 using cats 9.12

    Some thoughts
    • Run it in XP (SP3) compatability mode
    • Check your Event log (eventvwr.msc from RUN) for any errors or running processes
    • Open Windows Services and ensure that the COM+ System Application service is running.
    • Are there any back ground processes running that may hog system resources. Some examples are Scheduled backups, automatic software updates, Virus scans, MS update, outlook syncronisation
    • Perhaps your harddrive is entering sleep mode (usually if you have the game or saved files on an external drive)
    • Win7 uses more wattage, calculate your PC's power supply wattage (something like this Antec Power Supply Calculator)
    • Update all drivers (especially graphics and Monitor) from the manufacturer website (not MS update)
    • There are many ideas/solutions here Spore Space Freeze - PC-Gaming - General
    • Make sure that Hardware acceleration is turned on (and turned up)
    • If your PC is overclocked, set it back to normal speed
    • Ensure that your harddrive is defragged

Hope this helps. If you need more directions then please let me know.

    1. Not XP Mode, XP compatibility, I'm sure this is in HP version.... but I'm always open for learning something new see picture.

    2. Try setting it up to run as admin while you are there.

    3. Ensure that all program directories have read and write access for the kids login. This includes save game and created creatures that I guess are stored separately.

    4. Hardware rendering - I looked for it and it was greyed out, so I learnt something here
NVIDIA: Disable Hardware Acceleration in Windows 7 | Windows 7 Themes
i.e that Windows 7 handles it differently. However it made me think that if you have a Nvidia card with a Physx GPU, ensure that acceleration it is set to enabled. You can check this by right clicking anywhere on the desktop and selecting Nvida Control Panel.
