    Blue Screen Shut Down Help

I recently upgraded from windows xp to windows 7 32 bit. It installed ok and no problems but for the last week or so, I keep getting a blue screen which says it will shut down to prevent damage, why does it do this?

I've tried updating my drivers but they are all up to date, I do virus scans with AVG and nothing helps. It dosen't happen everyday but sometimes if I'm doing college work, the blue screen will appear, shut down and then I loose my work

    How can this be fixed?

    Thanks :)
