HP KEEPS CRASHING --> battery problems ???

Alright, I have a HP HDX16t-1200 laptop that came with Vista x64. Everything worked as it should have on Vista, but ever since I upgraded to Windows 7 there have been a bunch of problems.

At first, I just did a update from Vista to 7, and there were a bunch of problems like connectivity, etc. So I did a clean reinstall, and everything seemed to be working fine.

MY REAL ISSUE:

EVERYTIME i unplug my laptop and run it on battery power my computer just goes crazy, it just slows down, if im playing music it'll just DISTORT like i cant even make out the sound and everything will just freeze up.. then if i plug the AC adaptor back in then everything will just start running fine...

Has this happened to anybody before ?????? I dont know why it doesnt function on battery power, could it be a laptop issue ???

Type power options into the start menu, then choose high performance, then in advanced settings, change turn off hard disk after 999 minutes.

Thanks for the quick reply, but does this mean that I have to run my computer on high performance at all times, even when off battery power ??

I also noticed that the music "crashes" when this happens when I have iTunes open like I mentioned above, so could it be the version of iTunes ?? I mean i have an x64 bit version.. but when i download the iTunes version for Windows 7 it says that its recommended for 32-bit ?

High Performance is the default for me although in Win 7 "Balanced" is supposed to scale to your hardware. I'd try the setting and see if that works. Also, update all our drivers with the guide in my sig from the manufacturer's website with your laptop model.

Thanks ... I changed the value to 999 and have just been keeping it on High Performance and it seems to be Ok right now, I'll let you know if anything goes wrong

Is there any reason why this problem started since the Windows 7 installation though? Because it never happened on Vista

Did you upgrade from Vista? That could be a cause.

At first I upgraded from Vista, and then after I had a bunch of problems, I did a clean install to Windows 7, everything is running smoothly right now but I dont want to speak too soon

Use the 2 guide's in my sig if they will help - the drivers from the manufacturer's website via your model number.
