Just a FYI, the installer is a .msi file

Option 1 : Holding CTRL + SHIFT prevents double clicking on the item. Right Clicking while holding this installs as normal user, which fails.

Option 2 : This option is not available on my context menu

Option 3 : This option is grayed out, preventing me from selecting it on the COMPATIBILITY MODE tab.

    Try installing in Safe Mode.

You try the Command Prompt step in Build-in Administrator account

Select Start > All Programs > Accessories.

Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run As Administrator. A Command Prompt window will open.

In the Command Prompt window, type the following commands exactly as they appear below, including all spaces and quotation marks, and press Enter at the end of each line:

    icacls "c:\ProgramData" /T /C /grant administrators:F

    exit

Reboot the system then log back into the administrator account and try to install it

    Hope this helps,
    Captain

    OK King-

    1. Restarted into Safe Mode
    2. Computer sat a "Welcome" for over 6 minutes. I don't have patience, so I forced a restart into Safe Mode again.
    3. Got into Safe Mode.
    4. Attempted to install ESET, got much further than before, but ESET itself detected a failure (maybe can't do install in Safe Mode?) and rolled itself back.
    5. I was actually able to goto the C:\Program Files\ESET folder and delete it in safe mode! And I deleted the C:\ProgramData\ESET folder too.
    6. I reattempted install in Safe Mode to no attempt.
    7. Restarted normally and Windows stated that some updates it attempted to apply failed, and it reverted me back.

Jack Sparrow. I ran that command and got the following after a LOT of output:

Successfully processesed 10359 files; failed processing 260 files

Should I run that on C:\Program Files\ESET as well?

    Sparrow-

I cannot log into the Administrator account (I have enabled it, it was disabled) but I don't know what the password is.

The ESET Folder in C:\ProgramData is now gone. I am trying to do likewise with the C:\Program Files\ESET folder before reattempting reinstallation, and I get the following error:

    FOLDER ACCESS DENIED:
You need permission to perform this action
You require permission from SYSTEM to make changes to this folder
    ESET

It says that the command completed successfully.

So now you want me to login as Administrator and try the install?

Hey hey! That did it! I logged in as Administrator with the Password I set and was able to go through the install fully. I used an account that is expired (gotta find my key/password I bought that had a 3 user license).

    You guys are fan-freaking-tastic.

Man, looking back at it all, I wonder what the overall problem was here. Definitely seemed like Windows 7 went sideways with the permissions.
