    freezing during certain installations

    System: CPU Intel core2duo e8400, 2x1gb ddr2 800, mainboard msi p43
    O.S.: Windows 7 x64
Problem: During some certain game installations or heavy hdd activity while the cpu is not extremely loaded, the os feels like it's single tasking :), like it can't do anything else ... e.g.: yahoo messenger freezes or reacts very slowly, even right clicking in explorer take a few seconds. I have no extreme memory load with other programs. If additional details are needed please ask and i'll reply.

Type memory diagnostics in search and check results.

Type process explorer in search and download

Obviously, I am headed toward a memory problem.

Also, try to diasble Anti Virus

The memory diagnostic went fine without any errors. Also, do you mean, this process explorer ? ( Process Explorer )
Checking for bad sectors in chkdsk would take a really long time, so i ran normal hdd tests in chkdsk i got about 2TB of hdd :|
The Anti-Virus (kaspersky) was disabled all along, i only enable it when i have doubts about certain downloaded files.

Process explorer will show what is using ram. Maybe we can temporarily deactiviate it to see if that helps solve your problem.

it's definitely a memory problem, the ram usage goes up to 100% while the installer is running and clears up the memory after a minute or two, once the installation is finished. It's not a huge issue but I never encountered installations that freeze up your pc like this. I basically can't do anything else while a game installation is running

Well, if it is a memory problem and the Memory Diagnostics shows no problems. Process explorer can show what is using all the memory, when you experience the problem and whether it can be corrected or you must buy more ram.

More than likely your A/V is causing the memory spike problem which is slowing down your machine. This has been an ongoing problem with certain A/V's on certain systems with Windows 7 for quite awhile now. Recommend that you uninstall your A/V then restest and see if the slow downs stop or not. You can't just disable your A/V for this test, it will need to be uninstalled completely.
