win32k.sys BSOD 0x0000008E
Vista Home Basic, pre-installed on a Toshiba Satellite A100, was running very slowly on the provided 512 MB ram. I upgraded to 2 x 1 GB sticks. Speed improved.
At around the same time, I couldn't get Critical and Important Windows Updates.
Tried lots of fixes suggested by MS Technical Support without success. I've done a clean (custom) install of Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit, installed all updates and updated the drivers.
I've been getting BSOD Stop Errors, most if not all related to
win32k.sys 0x0000008E
System seems to run alright in safe mode.
I've read that 0x8E errors relate to memory. The DDR2 I purchased was 667 MHz, the original was 533MHz. So, I downloaded and ran memtest on each of the 1GB sticks individually. Hoping that this was a $50 fix. No such luck -- results on 2 passes of memtest on each stick: 0 errors
The BSOD has occurred when logging off, shutting down, and after other actions I can't remember. Most recent BSODs occurred when using Internet Explorer or Google Chrome in attempts to install the Flash add-in.
I've zipped and attached both two MiniDump files and the system information file
