Windows 7: Windows Crashes to BSOD after loading screen

Hi all,

I have a problem with my new computer. I am also new to windows 7 and am still getting used to everything. On the first start up of the day windows crashes to a BSOD just after the loading screen. I start windows repair on the restart and let it do its thing, then windows starts up fine. I doubt that windows repair did anything as no messages came up on startup or during the repair.

I don't have any information of the BSOD, my motherboard restarts after the crash and I don' get a chance to read the problem, I will post the problem when I have worked out how to stop it automatically restarting.

The computer runs fine after it is "warmed up" so to speak, and I am guessing thats why it starts after Start up Recovery has done its thing which appears to be nothing

I have attached 2 minidump files from previous crashes, windows didn't make one of the most recent.

Anywho, any help would be greatly appreciated, it's not really a problem but more of a nuisance.

ok, heres an update.

I stopped windows restarting after a crash and I could write down some info about the BSOD that came up most recently. It had the stop codes 0x0000008e (0XC0000005, 0x82CD9A8A, 0x8C7936A4, 0x00000000) with an error with NTFS.SYS PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA.

Windows didn't just start up this time, I had to run startup recovery, and this time it said that it couldn't fix the problem and sent up an error in the system file integrity check part of the test with a code of 0x490.

I told windows to make a full dump file, so I cant send it

my bad. I have changed but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Zip up and upload the full dump file to a free file hosting service (don't use RapidShare as the regulars can't access it). Then post the link here for us to download it.

Not much info on the minidumps - they blame core Windows files. If it was the core Windows files, then you'd have many more problems other than the occasional BSOD - so we have to look elsewhere for the problem.

I have scanned the computer using panda active scan. It showed 4 tracker cookies, ill run Avast! and remove them.

I have uploaded the full memory dump file to ************** and here is the dload link MEMORY.zip

I have run memtest 86+. I ran the test 14 times (overnight) and it did not show any errors.

I have run HDTune over all my HDDs and it came back with no errors on any of the HDDs but there is a weird thing that I am unsure about. The HDD with "C" has 100MB of unlabelled space that is bootable, and the rest is labelled as drive "C". Never noticed that before but its probably nothing.

Usually that 100MB of space is for BitLocker to do it's thing - I don't use it, so I don't have it on any of my systems to check on.

HDTune is a nice program - but nothing beats the test developed by the people who manufactured the hard drive. They know best what their hard drives are supposed to do. HD Diagnostic

The full memory dump was from Jan 29 and involved the NTFS.SYS error also. As CHKDSK /R was run after that, it's likely that it has corrected the errors.

So, what we do here is wait - wait for the next BSOD. If none occurs that's great - but if you do get one, we'll run the dump file and see if it indicates a need to run Driver Verifier (with certain settings).

Thanks for your help mate. I will let you know how it goes in a week, or when the next BSOD appears. I must admit, half the stuff you are talking about is gibberish but it is helping so thanks a lot. I appreciate it enormously.

hi,

I have a new problem. Upon startup, windows pops up an error message saying that uxinit.dll is corrupt. Windows still starts but is very slow and upon completion of loading an error appears saying that it cant find the desktop. It still logs onto the default user, but the background is black, and it has the grey and blue colour scheme.

This drive was a carry over form the old computer and only has 4000 hours on it (thanks to windows 7, cant remember how I read it

) and I dare say that the hard drive has breathed it final breath, so I'm gonna buy a new one. If you have any further input into this problem, it would be greatly appreciated.
