Asus Laptop K53E Crashed, Recovery Disk NOT Working

This laptop crashed over a month ago. I was told it needed a recovery disk since it would say it was loading windows files, and starting windows. But then it goes to an empty desktop screen and does nothing. I got the recovery disk in the mail today, I put it in and it does nothing! Anyone know what could be the problem?

Are you booting from the disc? If your laptop won't boot from it and keeps going to Windows instead, you'll have to go into your BIOS and edit the boot order so the CD/DVD drive comes first.

there is 2 boot options listed...
    boot option #1 P2: HL-DT-STDVDRAM GT34N
    boot option #2 P0: WDC WD6400BPVT-80HXZT1

thats what it says... does that seem odd?

No, that actually looks right. So what exactly happens? Does the disc not boot at all?

nope it will just have the Asus logo, then says windows files are loading, starting windows... then it goes to what looks like the desktop, but there is nothing on it, no icons, nothing... just the cursor

also once it loads to that blank desktop screen, there is a black window box that says on the top X:\windows\system32\cmd.exe
