    Random freezing

So I had 7 installed for a while now, but over the past 2 months, it has been randomly freezing... over and over..... some days it works fine, others it goes 10 minutes, then freeze.

I have been trying to trouble shoot this on my own but with no luck. Initially I thought it was my usb cable for my iPhone, or soundcard, or drivers for video card. I've tinkered and changed everything, with no change in the stability of it.

It was a clean install, and installed by a guy builds computers for a living. I've had 7 on since it went public, previously Windows Vista (which never froze).

I've run Hirens boot CD memory check for 14 hours with no errors, and I regularly clean my computer with ccleaner, and run antivirus and adware stuff too.

Current video card is a recent temp. addition as my 280 is out for an rma. This was happening with both cards.

    Thoughts?

Does the problem exist in safe mode?

Something you could try, in msconfig disable all items in startup, under services tab tick hide all MS services then untick the rest, reboot and see if prob still there if not its an issue with 3rd party app

First you may want to scan with an anti virus and with malwarebytes.
    Malwarebytes.org

If nothing shows take a memory diagnostic test over night (need at least 6 hours), Just type the phase in search and then begin the test.

Go to the event viewer after the problem and look for errors.

Here is some information on the subject. If it happens only when online, I would try to remove all addons from the browser

Not sure if it exists in safe mode, as I usually have work to do and won't be able to run the computer in safe mode for a few days to check it out. Pauly - I'll give that a go in the next few days. Already have run memtest (14 hours). Spybot, adaware, and eset smart security, on a weekly basis actually (always clean). As in the first post, I've been checking and rechecking things; just took out my sound card and tried running with on-board sound (still freezing) to test that. This freezing happens when browsing, listening to music, using torrents, folding, or doing absolutely nothing and just waiting for it to randomly crash. For the error codes, I've been checking those over the past few days, and have seen that it doesn't make an error code with this issue. Point being the computer froze at about 7pm est today, but no error code or anything is in the event viewer. Aside from doing a windows reinstall, I am not sure on what's going on or how to fix this...

k, so came back from work to find it frozen. I read somewhere, maybe here, that when it's frozen, you press right ctrl and scrl lock (twice) to dump something as to where it froze? where would I find this?

Windows feature lets you generate a memory dump file by using the keyboard

Welcome back, your information is contained in the above link. It suggests that it is for Vista, may work for Vista.
