    Hello Welcome to SF !!

    1. Download comdlg32.zip and save to Desktop.
    2. Unzip the file using WinZip or any other utility.
    3. Extract comdlg32.ocx to Windows\System32 folder.
    4. Type the following command from Start, Type Run then Hit enter then under Run type
    5. regsvr32 %Systemroot%\System32\comdlg32.ocx

    Hope this helps,

I was under the impression that I had to put this in SysWOW64 directory since I am running 64bit w7

    If it doesn't work try

At c:\windows\system32 look for CMD.exe ctrl + right clic and execute as Administrator the command

    Code:

    regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\comdlg32.ocx

    Comdlg32.ocx

Carried out steps word for word in both dirs and got successful registration results but the program STILL does not function.

Could there be another file that is missing?

    Comdlg32.ocx

It is a proprietary program called Datagrabber that is 32 bit and worked perfectly on my old XP Pro SP3.

I have no idea in what it was written in.

Well i guess that is the problem. First of all the COMDLG32.OCX is not present in Windows 7 or not part of the OS. Then your trying to install a 32-bit application on a 64-Bit OS which has just 5% chances of working. You can try to install the application in Compatibility Mode If the issue persists, the programs you are trying to run may be not compatible with Windows 7. Or you can try this Download Windows XP Mode

    Hope this helps,

    comdlg32.ocx for Win7x64

As liveware2000 said, to install the comdlg32.ocx file for Windows 7 x64, you can download the file (link is above) and put it in the Windows/SysWOW64 folder. Then, in command prompt or in Start->Run, type
    regsvr32 %Systemroot%\SysWOW64\comdlg32.ocx
    (and hit Enter, of course)
