Win7 says it can't start, asks for disk

    Hello there!

Every so often, my Win7 64 bit will not start from its drive but claims I need to insert the original startup disk.

When I hit Enter anyway, it proceeds to styart normally.

Today I elected to have it attempt "Repairs" instead - it took forever, claimed it could not find anything relevant, relayed an error report to MS and shut down.

I restarted the machine, selected Start Windows normally, and it proceeded to do just that...

Odd? You could call it that...

NB: On the same computer but a separate disk, I run my original XP SP3. Never any problems with that!

    Any ideas?

    Cheers,

    LMH

Try running scandisk from windows. There may be a bad sector around the drive there somewhere giving you the problem.
