I did the above, no problems were found with either operation, is there anything else i can do?
can you use system restore to go back to a point before this started? i have a feeling a service or process is interfering with the normal shutdown process and forcing windows to shutdown before it has finished it's normal shutdown procedure. this behavior is usually caused by an abnormal or forced shutdown.
I've tried that, but no restore point preceeds the problem, this problem sucks
you could always try boot logging to see where the problem is. i have not had to do it since 98 so i could not even begin to tell you how to do it. i'm sure there are others here that can help with it.
Having issue on startup of windows 7 and not sure how to fix it, here is what i saw when the system boots up...
