Windows Desktop Gadgets has Stopped Working.

    Hi all,

I am New to this forum.

Since a few days gadgets are not loading on my PC.
During the system startup I get this message "Windows Desktop Gadgets has Stopped Working"

I am using windows 7 ultimate edition(32 Bit).

Note:I browsed the forum and tried a few things that have been already discussed in some of the threads here. But still if I had missed something then please guide me to the appropriate thread/solution.

    Regards
    Sid.

    Hi Siddharth93, welcome aboard,

You'll have to mention the things you've tried already so we know. But I'll say a couple anyways.

    Have you tried running sfc/scannow?

How about trying one of these
Gadgets - Turn On or Off
    Gadgets - Restore Default Gadgets

The things which I have already tried:
    1. sfc/scannow.:No Problem was detected.

    2. Restore Default Gadget:Same message "desktop gadgets has stopped working" is being displayed

    3. UAC:They are enabled

    4. Gadget Platform: Its turned on.

The number 4. Turn windows features on and off. Yes it's turned on, gadgets wouldn't work if it wasn't. But have you turned the gadget platform off, let it configure, and reboot then turn it back on?

Well what I mean is for you to follow that tutorial and turn the gadget platform off, let it configure, and reboot. Go back and Turn it back on again. Then try your gadgets, maybe reboot again, see if it still gives you the error.

Did you install any new gadgets? What AV/Firewall you use? Somewhere read, Norton can cause this issue.
