Windows 7: random startup issues

Hi all,

Recently got a new pc with Windows & installed. Have had it over a month now and it seems that loading up seems to be a random affair.



Initially I got the startup repair screen, this happened a couple of times, I clicked on the repair option and it all seemed ok. Recently I keep getting a blank screen on startup, the pc is on as the lights are indicating and I can hear the fan. I wait for a while - then hold down the power button to turn it off. Press the 'on' button and it loads up ok.

It seems to follow windows updates - I am concerned that I'm simply dismissing something which is, or could be, quite serious in the long term. Is it teething problems? What should I do?
