keyboard will not work with iE 8 64 bit nor win explore

Odd one this, I have come up with a problem on windows 7 ultimate 64 bit in that the PS/2keyboard will not work with IE 8 64 bit, when I attempt to type anything
into IE 8 it stops responding, this problem is also apparent in windows
explorer, however IE 8 32 bit works fine and if i have IE 8 32 bit open both
windows explorer and IE 8 64 bit are fine if opened afterwards, I cannot find anything on the net and it is not the keyboard.

this problem is more weird then i thought as my keyboard will work in explorer as long as some other software is open the accepts keyboard input, such as firefox or ie 8 32 bit.

There can be any number of reasons, one may be compatiblity. You may want to try the compatiblity center to see if they can help.
