Win 7 64-bit BSoD nvlddmkm.sys error
I just bought my HP monitor (w2338h) on Monday Feb 8th to go with my new HP desktop (HPE-170f) I received the last week of January.
I had no problems with drivers or BSoD with when I had my old monitor. But since Feb 10th, I've been experiencing random shutdowns and blue screens, and flickering on the monitor, including it going to sleep. I have not downloaded anything malicious to cause these problems and have Norton which came with my PC. Eventually I got tired of the problems and set my computer back to factory settings.
After a less than a few hours, I started getting the same thing. I managed to copy down the error message on the BSoD:
*** STOP: 0x00000116 (0xFFFFFA80081084E0, 0xFFFFF88004 B03490, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000002)
*** nvlddmkm.sys – Address FFFFF88004 B03490 base at FFFFF88004AF0000, DateStamp 4ac236d5
I've noticed my computer crashes mostly whenever I watch video, but now its just doing it out of the blue. I heard it has something to do with the nVidia graphics card.
Here are some of my specs:
Windows 7 OS
Intel® Core™ i7 2.66GHz
9GB DDR3 RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 1.8GB (dedicated)
Is there anything I can do personally to fix this problem, rather than taking it into the shop?
