    Multiple Windows 7 issues.

Main issue: every few days (if that), Miranda (my AIM alternative client) goes offline and then I remember I went to Internet Explorer (and I'm guessing, yeah Im pretty sure I tried chrome first, with that being my default browser) and the connection was like dead. IE gives me the "diagnose connection" button. I cant remember what the error comes up as but when I restart it's fine. I never had this problem in XP. Also right before it happen last time (maybe just coincidence, because its ahppened other times), my images dont show up properly. For example someone sent me a png or a jpg and there was fat lines going thru the middle, horizontally. This didnt appear on her image. Isnt the only time though, images show messed up on webpages sometimes, the google image was showing messed up before. Its just nuts.

I tried to update video card drivers, not sure if I succeeded but i remember there wasnt a vista update, only vista.
pretty sure it updated fien the second time, and still problems.

i only have 1.25gb of ram but the ocmputer runs fine normally, otherwise i would understand this, and the other problems im about to get into in a second. according to my memory application, i have 600mb free right now. even with it as low as 200, 300 the system runs fine though.

now the other day i right clickd a 6gb folder (not sure if i hit properties yet) and it froze...i gave it a few "keep trying" before hitting end task and explorer either crashing, or me having to close explorer.exe just to use my comp again. this of course, made me lose my program in the system tray (one of the major reasons i switched to win7, to not have to reopen that program that doesnt come back in my system tray, another solution to that maybe? a system tray refresh or something? i dont know).

    lets see what else

reply to that please guys, my major issues and im sure ill think of more after.
    thanks a lot.

    dell xps 400
    1.25 gb ram dual core
Radeon X300/X550/X1050 Series (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM)

xp just uses less resources to begin with no? maybe i shud just go back to XP if i want the best speed possible outta my PC? not seeing many reasons to stick with win7.

    thanks all.

also last time it happened when the connection "died"

opera was losing pages, so im confused
but opera was also freezing sort of, so it was pretty unstable.
internet explorer nothin though, and miranda was dead.

the system was stable besides opera crashing.

can 1.25gb of ram really be the problem still? everything else was still runnin great as usual.

increase your ram to the max allowable on that machine.

Is it win7 32bit or 64bit? What is the max memory you can put in the Dell XPS 400 ?

32 bit pro. max is 4gb, a bit more than i want to pay for. i was gonna throw another gig or 2 (max) in and see if i still have the same bs problems.
trying to figure out if its even worth it though
so far about 7 i like, better ms paint (can download that though on xp)
it prompts me before i shut down (any1 know of something i can get to do that on xp?)
u can hit esc when u right click on a system tray icon and dont want it anymore (can u do that in xp?)
just little stupid stuff i like, little added features that idk if i really wanna pay $50+ for, especially being that, win7 requires more resources to begin with, so no matter what my system would be faster with xp right?

I run 2gb on my 32bit computers & 4gb on my 64bit computers. But I don't do any gaming. So I a satisfied with the way win7 runs for me.

nah i dont game eithe, and liek i said, im satisfied too...when opera doesnt ...idk im gonna stop right there and ask
a program freezing up, but everything else running fine...is that even a memory problem? i keep a memory application open that tells me how much is free and i doubt it was below 400mb.
idk screw it, maybe its just easier to pik up the ram, 30 day return policy, and see what happens.
