No BSOD just a complete lock up
Been having an issue lately that I can't quite seem to nail down, so I turn to the community for help.
Recently swapped out my MSI P6N Diamond Mobo for a Gigabyte EP45-UD3P because I was having all kinds of memory issues. I've had it running fine for the past few weeks. 2 days ago I added my third 1TB WD Caviar Black drive and another 2 GB of memory when the computer started hanging, screens stay active but the system is dead and have to do a hard reboot. Disconnected the SATA cable only from the drive and removed the new RAM same issue. Memory passes memtest. Boot into safe mode, don't have any issues, so I figured it was a software issue. Backed up my files and reinstalled windows. Upon booting back up the problem was still present. Comfortable with my RAM being fine I disconnected the power from 2 hard drives (the new one and the smaller one that I don't use too often) and the issues went away. Reconnected these drives on a different rail and the problems were still gone, but after a day they've started to reemerge, but not as bad as they were.
Would 3 SATA drives really tax the rail that much that I'm freezing the system? It doesn't make sense to me.
All of my drivers are up to date to my knowledge.
