Unable to create folder 0x80070002
Hardware: Original Setup
A8N32 SLI Deluxe Opteron 185
FDD = A:
HDD 1 WD Velociraptor = C: XP
DVDRW = D:
DVDRW = E:
HDD 2 Maxtor SATA = G: Win7
HDD 3 Maxtor PATA = F: Bootable Clone of C:
The machine was all set up on XP. I purchased and downloaded Win 7 32 bit Home Premium from Microsoft Store online and installed to G: using windows Boot manager to choose the OS. Worked great!
I had the bright idea of transferring Win7 to the Velociraptor as it’s so fast compared to the Maxtor.
Using Casper 4 I backed up C: to F: then copied the entire Win7 installation from HDD 2 to HDD 1 without rebooting before copying the clone back from HDD3 to HDD 2.
Problem(s):
Boot manager screen comes upand I can go to the earlier version of windows (XP) on HDD 2 (now C: Drive) as before.
Trying to enter Win7 I get the error HAL macpi.dll missing or corrupt insert installation disk to repair your PC.
When I try to repair I cant get past the “starting windows” splash screen.
I can’t even do a fresh install as I get the error 0x80070002 which is apparently something to do with cryptography?
Anyone point me in the right direction? I can explore the 7 from XP but that’s it. If possible I’d prefer to rescue it but if needs be I will reinstall. If I reinstall how do I get rid of the boot manager and how do I now get around the fact it spits out the installation disk?
