Need help solving dump and crash problem

Attached are the minidumps from stick#2. Maybe there is something in there that can give a different angle on this issue.

still a variety of errors blaming memory corruption and Rt64win7.sys ?

also usbuhci.sys was in one of the dumps but i still can't see anything that stands out

I suggest unninstall AVG completely and any third party firewall , then install MSE and use windows firewall ?

I ran a registry cleaner and found that the system doesn't crash due to memory corruption. There is still the occasional freeze up and some restarts, but no minidump file is written which makes me think there is something else going on.

Most of the time these 'new' crashes happen during watching full screen videos (mkv, avi, flash, etc.). I suspect that it might be my videocard possibly protecting itself from overheating. Is there a way to diagnose that?

maybe try this >> video card stress test and watch your temperatures at the same time ?

have you unninstalled AVG and any third party firewall ?

Oh yes, I forgot to mention that I uninstalled AVG and now only running MSE.

After running the stress test for 2 1-hour sessions the videocard proved stable, but playing full screen mkv files caused a couple freezes and a couple crashes. No minidump files were created for those however.

I'm considering doing a clean reinstall as the problem seems to be deep inside the system and can't be corrected any other way.

I am interested in what you found out as I am having the same issue for the most part. Did you find anything? Did you do the clean install and did it help?

There are no dmp files. It does not go to the bsod it just totally locks and I can not do anything. ctrl alt del does not work. Nothing works at that point it totally freezes. Any insight is appreciated.

First off, it was my RAM that was causing the dumps. That issue was solved by going into the bios and manually setting the RAM voltage to its rated 1.65V.

Second, you'll want to let the win7 experts here know what you are running when your system locks up. Is it during particular applications. In my case, after setting the RAM voltage, it was only when running VLC that my system locked up. I did a clean reinstall of win7 and have avoided using VLC. Since then I haven't encountered a dump.

I have replaced ram and did a repair install of windows. The only time it crashes now is with vlc and media player with codec pack. I am going to try and find a diffrent player and try it. Thanks for the help.

thanks for sharing this , have you emailed or posted on VLC players forum ?

hopefully VLC will update their player to solve this issue
