Windows 7: Please review my minidump file

Just put together a new system Windows 7 Ult 64 bit . Asus mobo M3N78-vm, AM2 cpu, 2 gig ddr2 1066 memory, no overclocking, WD 1.5 terbyte HD. Keep getting BSOD. All parts are new. Tried doing a memtest, only got to 20% before crash but no errors to that point. 2 optical drives and card reader. Run with one or other optical drive and still crashed, run with cardreader unplugged and still crashed. Whats left? Possible bad HD? bad mobo? Inadequate ps ? Installed w/ apevia case with 500w PS putting out 25a @+3.3v / 30a@+5v / 16a@+12v1 /18a@ +12v2

I guess there are multiple issues going on. Manily something related to Hardware because the Bugcheck Code is 0x00000124 also i found a Asus Utility ASACPI.sys which is dated 2005 which is well know for problem. If your Overclocking please stop. Uninstall any third party Antivirus / Firewall ad see whether that makes any difference. Ensure that the machine is adequately cooled. If there is any doubt, open up the side of the PC case (be mindful of any relevant warranty conditions!) and point a mains fan squarely at the motherboard. That will rule out most (lack of) cooling issues

Download the File from here MB_WIN7_ATK.ZIP and update it and see whether your having the same problem. If not

Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers look for ASACPI.sys rename the extension from ASACPI.sys to ASACPI.old see whether that makes any difference

Here is what I found out. Swapped memory sticks, no change. Removed WD hard drive which was sata and plugged in an IDE maxtor, result no BSOD ! Could this be it ? A bad brand new WD 1.5 t HD out of the box? or not compatible with asus mobo? Or could it still possible be a bad mobo and if I try a new sata HD do you think I will get the same BSOD? Did the dump file reference anything that pointed to possible bad HD?
Am sending WD HD back for full credit and thinking of buying a seagate sata instead.

Its possble a brand new one could be bad. Maybe try this HF as well see whether it help You receive various Stop error messages in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2 when you try to resume a computer that has a large SATA hard disk if you get a spare 1 TB HDD from one of your friend try it see whether it has the problem. If it doesn't then you know what next !!

thanks, my friend coming over this weekend w/750gig hd. We will try that. I had tried the hotfix, was able to download, but got bsod while installing. My friend thinks chipset or mobo problem.... as for me, pretty much lost. lol. Maybe send the mobo back and start all over.....what a pain, but nature of the beast.
