Windows 7: bsod and lock ups

bsod and lock ups

Acer Aspire 5739G laptop purchased less than a month ago - i've put in my specs in my info to the best of my ability (on a side note, is bios the same thing as motherboard?)

this came with Windows 7 preinstalled - so i did not have to upgrade from vista

constantly locks up - at least a dozen times yesterday and i've frozen 2 times already today. upon investigation it appears that many have the same problems and there are a ton of suggestions on how to fix (basically too many to choose from). of the freezes i get, only a few are bsod involved.

crashes occur seemingly at random - during the middle of watching something on wmp where i am not doing anything or clicking anything, sometimes opening a file or clicking a link, using bit comet, firefox, msn have all led to crashes. (i currently use firefox 3.5.8)

i will attach the minidumps i have collected

any help is appreciated - besides this one issue, i really like this laptop, but this one issue happens to be both serious and horrendous!

These six crashes were caused by your storagae controller iastor.sys.

I would uninstall it and download fresh new copy and re-install it.

I would also run a system file check

You can do that (type cmd in search>right click and run as admin>sfc /scannow)

let us know if you need help
