The purpose of bench building is to eliminate any possibility of shorts or grounding issues... Considering that you've been leaning toward replacing the MB anyway, there's really no extra effort involve here...

But do whatever, it's just a suggestion... :)

    Intel burn test

I tested each individual sticks one at a time and all of them passed. The only thing is this, it only says available memory is in between 1200mb and 1500mb. Is that because the other memory is used for running the system itself? So now I guess it is the motherboard I guess

is there any possibility that when you assembled the board you may have bent a pin on the cpu , even though it uses a ZIF socket ,its not unheard of , which thermal paste did you use, too much can have the adverse effect

thermal paste is a heat transfer compound that you place between the cpu and the heatsink/fan combo :)

It is a thermal paste put between the heat sink and CPU to make sure the most heat possible is tranfered away from the CPU. One good one is artic silver
