    Win 7 BSOD after waking from sleep


    Hi, I have HP xw8200 workstation with dual 3.0GHZ xeon procs and 6gig of ram that throws a BSOD more often than not when waking from sleep. The system board, Scsi drives, and both procs have been replace under warranty. When loading xp 64 bit using the quick restore disks,the sytem is quite a bit more stable but still throws the ocassional BSOD. However, with Win 7 64 bit, it happens quite often. Other weird things happen too: Gadgets stopped working, get "RPC service failed to start" when logging in. Itunes stops working. I swapped out the nvidia quadro fx3450 with another card and it made no difference. I got a f4, and 7e stop errors in the last two days. I've attached the dmp file. I hope someone can interpret the dmp for me...Thanks a bunch

    beau, would this be your problem: A Windows-based portable computer does not resume correctly if you close the lid while the computer is asleep ?

    not really. It's not a laptop and the behavior is different. For one thing, the BSOD pops pretty much as soon as I move to mouse to wake it....or it lets me log in, THEN shows the BSOD.

    ADDENDUM: I should add....I've run memtest over 24 hours with no errors. I ran the HP insight diagnostics with no errors. I've run prime95 for about 30 minutes with no problems. I have only office 2007 and Itunes. I've had to install Win7 like 10 times because after a week or so it won't boot or it's just so buggy and unstable. I'll get messages that say 'Explorer has stopped working' and the like. I double checked that the raid drivers, chipset, NIC, and all other drivers are updated, as well as the video card. Part of me wonders if it could be a setting with the NIC, which does have a lot of settings that I have no idea what they do. But until somebody can read my dmp file, it's all a guess......

    what does this mean:
    The platform firmware has corrupted memory across the previous system power transition. Please check for updated firmware for your system.

    I was having the toughest time with Windows 7 on my laptop until I updated the BIOS. Now it wakes from sleep (so far) without crashing or corrupting the OS.
