Windows 7 64 bit BSOD (prob virus)
Hiya... before I start, I am kind of a computer literate person, so bear that in mind when you give me instructions
Ok. Im 110% sure this was caused by a virus. Heres what happened. I downloaded a patch for a game from a torrent site (It was a rare oldish game and I couldnt find the patches on any trusted website so I had to resort to it). It was an exe, so I clicked it without thinking about that fact that it is an exe from a torrent site... stupidly. Double clicked, 5 seconds gone, boom, bsod.
When I try to boot it up normally, I get IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and the stop code is 0x0000000A. I have not installed any new hardware recently. Im sure this was caused by this virus. It also seems that the virus has deleted my system restores. But thats ok... I have a program which basically does the same thing incase sys restores DO get deleted.
so blah blah blah, started up in safe mode, oh noes, a different BSOD. This one says SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXEPTION Stop code is 0x0000003B.
Searched both of these bsod's.... I'm 99% sure it is not the ram, as I said I have not put in any new hardware for aaaaaaaages. I have not installed any big programs that may change system files etc.
I have my disk, memory diagnostics didnt work. No system restores, no images, nothing. A fresh installation of windows wouldnt be the end of the world, but I would REALLY like to avoid it.
My full system specs are as follows :
Windows 7 home premium 64 bit
384mb XFX 9600 GSO (Basically a 9800GT with 384mb) latest drivers
Intel I7 920 (was ocd to 3.8ghz, declocked it to see if it helped)
Asus P6T SE
2x2GB Corsair 1600mhz ram
HDD : 1TB Western Digital (Not sure about the speed or model ;s)
I also checked hard drive for errors.
If there is something I can do to solve all of this, that would be nice, but really I just need to get into safe mode and I can handle it from there.
