Bsod help please! first time!

I have an HP M8430f PC desktop, with upgrades such as an ANTEC earthwatts 650
and ATI 4870.

Lately for a couple months, the computer would crash on cold start ups.
and after it crashed the I would usually get bluescreens or nothing at all. it would sometimes turn the screen black and the monitor would lose signal, but the computer would still be on. Sometimes it would just randomly restart or hang on a certain screen. This also happens during start up where it would just hang on the windows logo screen or etc.
After crashing and starting up 6-7 times (holding power button to shut it off and turn it back on) it would finally run without crashing

Thanks again guys , appreciate it

Welcome!

Unfortunately, that is only a shortcut to your dmp file.

Do you think you could upload the original for us?

Thanks,
~JK

Try opening an elevated command prompt and entering sfc /scannow.

That will scan for bad system files.

thats correct, I had windows 7 ultimate 64 bit, and it kept crashing, so an HP tech told me to revert back to vista SP2 and upgrade the bios etc. I figure that since it was crashing so much on windows 7, that if i fix the problem in windows vista before i upgrade to windows 7, it would go away. And as I'm writing this I got another bsod which I will post as well. Do you guys think the problem is me using a windows vista 64 bit home premium and upgrading it to windows 7 ultimate 64 bit RETAIL which is causing the problem?

John: finished doing the scan and nothings wrong

yes

your best bet is perform a format and fresh install of windows 7 , apply all your drivers from your manufacturers websites, such as chipset and sound and gfx etc then if you experience any problems post them here
