W7 64bit - Boots w/4GB Hangs w/8GB
Problem Solved! - my fault - I thought I'd upgraded my BIOS and hadn't. Upgraded to 2203 and everything is fine. Wasted 1.5 days and a lot of people's time. Sorry.
Lesson: Make sure you've updated your BIOS & Drivers.

I've got W7 Home Premium 64 bit.
Runs fine @ 4GB, put in 8GB and it hangs on boot.
Boot in Safe Mode w/logging it hangs after posting:
\Windows\System\Drivers\Classpnp.sys
My guess is there is some plug-n-play driver loaded that is really only 32bit, but, I can't figure out what.
I've reloaded the OS a couple times removing everything I can from the system and still have the same problem.
My mobo is an ASUS P5Q-EM with the latest BIOS and drivers
The BIOS shows 8GB if I check before continuing the boot.
I've tried memtest86+ which ran for hours against the 8GB and found no errors.
The four sticks of memory are all OCZ PC8500 1066 w/5-5-5 timing.
I think there is a 32bit driver hiding in the weeds that even a fresh load doesn't get rid of (I note that even selecting the fresh load option which says it will wipe everything on the disk leaves all your old files in a .old or .old.000 directory)
Can anyone help with how to clear this up? I'd really like to run 8gb - otherwise it seems kind of a waste to have gone to a 64bit OS.
