W7 won't boot without dvd drive connected

    This is a bizarre one.

I have to use my sata dvd drive in another pc ,so i disconnected it,and all i'm left with now are my 2 sata hard disks,(the boot disk and one for media and such). But now my pc will just not boot .So i reconnected the dvd drive again and voila ,normal booting .

I had a check in the bios,to see what was selected as the boot device and the dvd sata drive is/was never set as the first boot device, always the sata hd.

    ?

Try pluging your drives in this order.

    (HD 1) Disk0 into Sata1
    (HD 2) Disk1 into Sata2
    (DVD 1) Disk0 into Sata3

    Can you post your specs.

    Finally fixed the problem.

I don't know if this is what other motherboard users have to do,but with this biostar A740G M2+ ,i had to load the default bios settings,(with the dvd drive disconnected)then change them back to what i had set them to before the Os boot failure

Error details were-"secondary slave drive ATAPI incompatible ".

Still a strange one,as the bios settings are now set back to exactly what they were ?
