Windows 7: Why is my computer so difficult to boot up recently

Windows 7 x64 Ultimate

It may not be a specific ram module unless you've tried al the combinations and one module always kills it.

It may be that your MB is just having trouble with the ram itself. It's common to have motherboards go more and more unstable the more ram you put in if it's dodgy to begin with. Timing is too tight, bus speed too fast or something. You could try "underclocking" your ram. You won't notice ANY difference. (I'm underclocking my 1033 ram to 800 in my current machine due to heat issues and notice no slowdown whatsoever).

Some people up the ram voltage a tad which can help but I'd try underclock ing the ram speed first.

Windows7 & XP Pro

Hi fseal,

Sorry in the delay in replying, could not get access to the site for some reason.

First thing today I fitted 2 x 2GB of ram with the existing 2 x 1, thatís solved the problems. I have been re-installing all the programmes and have done several re-boots and cold starts during the day. The computer is running fine now.

Not seen the STOP message any more.

Last thing I thought of, typical !

Thanks for all the help
