hanging from screen saver

my computer hangs, but only when i try to wake it from my pictures slide show. (i am using pictures for background as well). when i try and wake the computer it hangs. sometimes it needs a hard reboot, other times it just needs multiple mouse clicks and then ms searches for a problem (i click cancel and it comes back).

when i turn off the background and just use a solid color and no screensaver, computer works fine.

any ideas? sounds like a driver. i have updated my bios. i use the video board that came on the motherboard.

thanks in advance
michael
