Can't use the Windows Start button...

Hi guys, I've just recently bought a Dell Inspiron 1564. Everything was working well for the past two weeks until yesterday night - Windows hanged and I was forced to restart the notebook.

Now this morning, everytime I bring up the Windows Start button, I can't click anything on the menu - and I can't even log off Windows from there. I tried and can't log off using Ctrl+Alt+Delete as well.

Can someone please help/advice what could be the cause to this problem? I left my notebook in Sleep mode most of the day yesterday while I run some errands but there was nothing running in it at that time and it definitely didn't overheat although I did left the power adapter plugged in (I forgot to turn it off)

Thanks in advance for any help/advice

Hi Ken, thanks for the advice. I tried booting it from the DVD but nothing seems to work. However, I did a System Restore back to 31st/March and now everything is fine. I guess it could've been a Windows update.
