My new system keeps crashing
A week ago I built myself a new computer. Everything seemed to go well, all the parts are new except the case, hard drive and dvd drive. The first install of windows I did, I didn't reformat correctly and it placed all my old files in a folder. This folder was huge, and seeing as I had just installed windows and not much else, I decided to reformat again, this time erasing everything first.
Now, I keep getting the Blue 'Memory dump' screen. It happens after Windows starts up, but before I get to the log-in screen. Any restarts after that will only take me to the system repair screen (even if i pick safe mode), where it tells me it cannot repair my computer and gives me a few lines explaining the errors.
Problem Event Name: StartupRepairOffline
Problem Signature 01: 6.1.7600.16385
Problem Signature 02: 6.1.7600.16385
Problem Signature 03: unknown
Problem Signature 04: -1
Problem Signature 05: AutoFailover
Problem Signature 06: 7
Problem Signature 07: CorruptRegistry
So I assume my something is corrupting my startup registry over and over again. Once this happens I have no choice but to reformat. I can make it work for a few hours, but the next day I boot it up and get the blue screen again. I can't get to the memory dump files, I know that would make things easier.
Here is what I have done to try to resolve this:
-One stick of memory seems to work ok, 2 sticks causes a crash. I changed my bios settings: QPI voltage to 1.25, Memory voltage to 1.5, and System Enhance down to Standard. This worked for a whole 5 hours or so, but the next day I had a blue screen. (I found this Here)
-Swapped the 2 memory sticks around on the motherboard (they are in the correct white slots, I tried the blue ones, still crashes - also typically works with one stick of RAM no matter which one it is or which slot it is in)
-Ran memorytest86 last night, 9 passes, 0 errors.
-Memory dump errors are always different, if can look one up, reformat, change a setting and get a different one the next time. I have had to reformat at least once a day over the past week.
-Also as a note, this system has not gone for more than 24 hours without a crash, maybe not even that long.
This is my hardware:
Motherboard: Gigabyte P55M-UD2 rev 1.1
Processor: Intel i5 - 750
Memory: G-Skill 4Gb (2x2Gb) DDR3 4GBNQ
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 4670
Hard drive: (6 years old but still worked fine in old system) Maxtor Diamondmax 10 120Gb
Power Supply: OCZ 600W
6 year old DVD drive
Tonight my plans are to install a different old hard drive that is running as a second drive in another computer. Any thoughts/ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
