BSoD When gaming, custom PC, ntoskrnl.exe

    Hey

I got a PC custom built for me about a month ago and installed windows 7 ultimate 64 on it myself, and every time I have a game going (paused or in play) between1-2 hours after it was opened it crashed to a bluescreen often quoting ntoskrnl.exe.

Im pretty sure i have the updated drivers for all things, but as i said i diddnt build the pc myself so I haven't messed with BIOS or anything, i dont know required voltages and all that.

It only happens when im playing high spec games like crysis or asassins creed or GTA4 etc.

    Specs:
    CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 630 2.8Ghz 2MB AM3 95W 45nm
RAM: 4GB Kit Dual Channel RAM DDR2-800 PC6400 OEM
    HDD: Western Digital 1TB Caviar Green WD10EADS 32MB 7200rpm
DVD Drive: Lite-On SATA DVDRW iHAS324 Super 24x DVD CD Writer
Motherboard: Asus M4N78 SE AM2+ AM3 Phenom nForce 720D Raid GBLan ATX
    Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD5770
Power supply: Aywun 750W MEGA POWER ECO 140mm Fan A1-750E PSU ATX
    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64

I ran memtest 86+ for 11 passes, and no errors were found

i've downloaded bluescreenview and had a look at the last minidump (up on skydrive) and it looks like someting called ntoskrnl.exe is causing trouble, and it has been a factor in 3 out of 4 bsods recently:

You certainly have done your homework. Since your memory has passed I would suggest you run a system file check. to do that type cmd in search>right click and run as admin>sfc /scannow (note the space between sfc and "/")

    Let us know the results

Thanks for the suggestion. I just did that - nothing bad was found.

Do you think it could be something with BIOS i need to change? I dont expect the people who built it will have configured it or anything past what they absoloutley had to.

Also just googling around this error seems to be common among custom pcs, but I really need all suggestions from you guys, ive tried everything i can think of

its still in warranty, but i cant really get the guys to fix it for me because to test it you need to play a game for hours, so you guys are my best hope!

    Hi there,

Thanks for that. I've updated all 3 of those drivers to the most recent versions. I tested again using GTA4 and got through about half an hour of play, then got a new, different bluescreen:
"Page fault in nonpaged area" STOP 0x00000050

    bugger.

    New minidump attached

    Hi -

With all due respect. . . Based on post timestamps + the ~ 30 min testing, new BSOD, upload & attach dump, write and submit post. . . how did you update those 3 drivers in less than 11 minutes?

    Run --> DRIVER VERIFIER - Windows 7 & Vista

It will BSOD your system if rogue 3rd party driver found and produce a VERIFIER_ENABLED dump.

Allow D/V to run in the background for 36 hours minimum - or until BSOD, whichever is less.

    Regards. . .

Well with all due respect back at you, I'd already installed 2 of the suggested ones before you had suggested that (following the last Bsod) and im not using a game timer (yet) im going by half hour segments to roughly work it out. The point is the error remains.

Alright thanks ill start D/V up now and get back to you.

Alright it's running now, started up ok. Should I open up a game to try and get a bluescreen or just leave it? I only get the bluescreen when in games.

Yes... use the system as normal. Driver Verifier will run in the background.

To see status of Driver Verifier, go back into D/V GUI screen, select last option on 1st screen.

Thanks. I did that, and it crashed a couple of times (with restarts in between) and located an Asus Atk0110 driver. i had installed that when updating the chipset (it did not come with the CD) and so uninstalled that, but ive noticed that every time i restart windows its back in the device manager.

    the newest dumps are attached
