    Windows 7 Freezing Constantly

For a good few months I've had Windows 7 Ultimate installed on my laptop, and for those few months I've had absolutely no problems whatsoever. However, recently my laptop has begun to freeze a number of times while in use. The freezes seem to happen when certain applications are in use, (Browsing in any internet browser, using instant messengers, ETC) I even think it's starting to suspect it's helping to produce I/O device errors as I've gotten a couple of those today, Once while extracting something from a rar and again while burning a DVD.

This has never happened before, and my computer hasn't undergone any significant changes to cause it either, so I'm pretty stumped. So, I'm here asking for help, on my first post no less.

    Welcome to Seven Forums...

I suggest you run the gammut of normal diagnostic tests.

Start > "cmd" > Right Click cmd.exe > Run as Admin...
    Enter line: "sfc /scannow"
If you get errors, run it 3 times.

    OR

Peform a system restore to a previous point.

    OR

    Perform a repair install.
