    Laptop died with an error

But I don't know what it is. Last night, I was trying to discharge my battery to see how much life it has left. It shut down suddenly, and I thought it was normal, so I plugged in power and left it off so it could charge. This morning, when I turned it on, it took me to the Windows Error Recovery page, and now there's a minidump. The message given to me upon log in was "Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown". Something of that sort. Does anyone know if that was supposed to happen?

The dump file is a STOP 0x124 error - that's a hardware error that's reported to Windows by your CPU.
Since you were trying to drain your battery I wouldn't be too concerned about it - and would wait to see if you get another under normal operating conditions.
