Windows 7 Crashes while using gtalk and Yahoo

    Hi All

I read most of the threads and discussion in this forum and hence decided to register and post my query.

I recently purchased a Dell stuido with Windows 7 Prof (clean install ) , with i5 processor 3gb ddr3 and nvidia 512 graphics card.
I am not that happy with its performance , not sure whether its the i5 or the Windows 7. Whenever i run gtalk(pc - pc voice chat) and Yahoo (webcam) , either one of them crashes or sometimes even both. When I checked the resource monitor to see what was holding these process it was svchost.exe , any idea whats the connection between svchost and these messengers and also what I should be doing to keep the svchost.exe in check.
    Thanks in anticipation.

This is probably because both program are vying for the same resource, namely your webcam. I wouldn't run both at the same time. If you have to, turn off the webcam on one.

You could also switch to a program that can access both chat services at the same time such as Trillian.

That app can connect to the following at the same time:

    Windows Live Messenger
    G-Talk
    Yahoo
    AIM
    Bonjour
    ICQ
    Skype
    MySpace
    IRC
    Jabber

You can also add more services through plug-ins.
