Windows not booting

Whenever I try to boot windows, all I get is a black screen with a cursor (the command line kind, not an arrow). If i press something, nothing happens, and there is no disk activity. I primarily use Ubuntu as my OS, so I don't exactly when this happened. I have grub2 as my boot loader, but I know that is not a problem because I have restored the windows boot loader and it made no difference. I have run chkdsk /f on all of the partitions that windows installed, and it made no difference. BTW I have the same problem on my windows recovery partition.
If it helps, here is the os-prober entry in my grub.cfg (note: vista is what it calles my recovery partition):
Code:
## BEGIN /etc/grub.d/30_os-prober ###
menuentry "Windows Vista (loader) (on /dev/sda1)" {
    insmod ntfs
    set root='(hd0,1)'
    search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 645a82075a81d5e8
    chainloader +1
}
menuentry "Windows 7 (loader) (on /dev/sda2)" {
    insmod ntfs
    set root='(hd0,2)'
    search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 0aea5bf7ea5bde0f
    chainloader +1
}
### END /etc/grub.d/30_os-prober ###

Give Chkdsk /R a quick run as well.

If you can hit F8 after choosing Windows 7 and pop open the safe mode listings let us know!

You should read GRUB's documentation. By the way, have you tried to boot the disk directly? Where do you put GRUB into?

I put grub on my hard drive, with my /boot/grub on my Ubuntu partition. I have tried to boot using Window's boot loader, and I got the exact same screen.

I will try chkdsk /r and post the results. Can't do it until tomorrow, though.

I tried chkdsk /r. I still can't boot, but now I have a feeling it is not Windows. I ran a system check on the recovery disk (like the installation disk, but without the installation), and it found no errors. It said my last successful boot was 4/18. I upgraded my Ubuntu around 4/22 to the 10.04 release candidate. I noticed the problem a few days ago. The problem may be related to the upgrade, but I have no idea how.

I have restored the Windows boot-loader, and it still won't boot. I don't think it is GRUB, but I don't know how it could be Windows.

Just found out some important information: when I get the blinking cursor screen, it is on the BIOS. I know this because I tried pressing ctrl+alt+del, and it restarted my computer, something that only my BIOS does.

I have the exact same problem with the same model. I got error messages twice about an incorrect command before this happened. Did you? Have you found a solution?
