Unexpected restart with no warnings, BSOD, or errors

Hi all,

This is my first post here so please excuse me if I've posted in the wrong place. I have a very annoying problem that I do not know how to fix. My problem is, my installation of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit randomly shuts down without any warnings at all. I'm just typing online, reading emails, chatting with my friends, and all of the sudden my screen goes black, and then I see the BIOS loading screen, and then "Windows has not shut down properly". This happens with no warnings, no Blue Screen of Deaths, or error messages. I have my system up-to-date with antivirus software, Windows Updates, and drivers. I have scanned my system and found no viruses. I've also checked my hard disk for errors and defragmented. I have unchecked "Automatically Restart" with no luck. I have a ASUS UL20A-A1 laptop with a 4GB RAM upgrade: Amazon.com: ASUS UL20A-A1 Thin and Light 12.1-Inch Silver Laptop - 7.5 Hours of Battery Life (Windows 7 Home Premium): Electronics
For the first couple of weeks I had this laptop, I had the preinstalled Windows 7 and never experienced any random reboots. I tried to reinstall using my recovery partition, and then found out it was broken, so deleted it, and used the two recovery dvds to reinstall. Ever since then I have experienced this problem. I've tried reinstalling with the recovery dvds again and again, with the same results. I have contacted ASUS Technical Support as well, since I have a felling that it might be defective recovery dvds, however I also wanted to post here to see if you guys could help me out. I really love Windows 7, and would prefer to not switch to any other OS. I have also attached a pic of my system reliability report, if that helps.

Thanks for the help!

Hi all,

I know this post is a couple days old, but I found out the problem. The problem is unfortunately my memory. I have a ASUS UL20A-A1 (Amazon.com: ASUS UL20A-A1 Thin and Light 12.1-Inch Silver Laptop - 7.5 Hours of Battery Life (Windows 7 Home Premium): Electronics) with 4GB RAM upgrade. I bought a 2GB RAM upgrade from Crucial which expanded my total memory to 4GB: Amazon.com: Crucial Technology CT25664AC800 2GB 200-pin SODIMM DDR2 PC2-6400 Memory Module: Electronics. Unfortunately, this new memory I bought is what's causing the problem. I did a test, I took out the extra 2GB memory and went with the 2GB memory stick that was included with the laptop. I had this extra 2GB memory out for a couple of days, and never experienced a single reboot. Then, today I put the extra 2GB memory in which expanded my total memory to 4GB, and I experienced two reboots in a row, as soon as I turned my laptop on after putting the memory back in. The default memory is 2GB PC2-6400S-666-12, and the new memory I bought was 2GB PC2-6400S-666-13-ZZ, this is the problem, the memory is not the same. When I bought the memory, the description said "2GB PC2-6400" and nothing else, but there was this small difference that is causing the reboots. When I bought the memory, I didn't know about this small difference, because it wasn't on the description. The strange thing is, the reboots didn't happen until just recently, and unfortunately I think it's too late to return the memory, there goes another 50 bucks down the drain. However, I do not know where to buy another 2GB memory upgrade that is the exact same type. I've looked on a bunch of sites with no luck, do any of you know where I could buy 2GB memory that is the same type?

Thanks!
