BSOD. Typicaly the day after a fresh install.

chkdsk /r /f C:
Ran before boot and the result of the scan said no errors and at the next boot it said the hard drive was "clean".

I am going to proceed with the Driver Verifier.

While we are on the topic of drivers is there a way to disable automatic driver updates by windows 7. I believe that may make debugging easier if I knew that windows was not applying new drivers (which it seems to be).


NOTE (if I forgot to mention)(and probably useless):
C: is a new 500 GB system drive it has the windows 7 windows folder. I have no hesitation of nuking or any other action on this hard drive, that does not void warranty, that will make debugging easier.

E: is a windows XP install. This is the XP I rarely used (until now it was mostly if it's twin crashed)
A final hard drive with the windows XP That I typically used not currently plugged in.

I would be perfectly fine with doing a complete reinstall of windows 7 with automatic driver and updates disabled. That way all that is being debugged is a clean install and not one that has update induced problems for example cursor jump (not annoying but I have that now)(actualy it occurs less often then BSOD LOL).

I am sure you guys have much more experience so If you could tell me a good procedure to follow? Or would the current install be easier for both of you to diagnose?

Relativity speaking my computer maybe more stable than most live with for windows 7. I think ill just see how stable it is with real time scan for windows defender and using Google chrome. My plan is to wait till windows 7 is a bit more mature and try getting all these problems dealt with then.

Any ways it has not crashed once since the two times this morning (when I was afk).

Wow no crashes since yesterday. Maybe all I had to do was disable windows defender real time protection. My wireless adapter did have an issue a few minutes ago (lost connection for a second) but nothing that would upset me (but maybe cause defender to crash if it was monitoring).

Just to update. I found my system runs happy with ubuntu x64. I have no complaints except video game comparability. So I have a non updating XP boot for when I want to launch Starcraft 2 beta. And that is stable enough to play it (does crash programs but mostly stable). So if I want to do any windows games that works.

I am still curious why there are problems (to avoid it for the next build). But I am happy with what I got.
