Laptop won't enter Sleep or Hibernate Mode ?
Hi all,
Yesterday, I formatted my hdd and installed a fresh new copy of Win 7 Home Premium 32bit. I installed all of my regular Vista drivers and for the first 6 hours or so my system was fine, I was able to fully enter sleep and hibernate and resume from both states without any problems.
However, It wasn't until the end of the night when I was about to head to bed, that I decided to put my computer in sleep and call it a night. That's when my laptop wouldn't enter sleep mode.
This is what happens :
I press the sleep button on the start menu, the screen then fades to black then nothing happens, it just hangs there, the lights stay on but nothing happens. Then, after roughly 10 minutes, the system will automatically shut itself off. When I press the power button to turn it back on, I get a message saying something like : "Windows did not shutdown successfully". After booting into Windows, I get a message saying : "Windows Recovered from an unexpected Error". And it gave me the minidump BSOD file (please see attached file).
I'm thinking that something, either an application or Driver perhaps is preventing my laptop from fully entering either sleep or Hibernate ?
Like I mentioned, for the first 6 hours or so, I was able to enter and resume from both sleep and hibernate without issue.
I hope someone can help me with this, it's been going on for months now, my laptop is almost a year old and far from being top of the line. However I can't afford to buy a new one at the moment, I want to but I just don't have the money. This will have to do for a few more months until I can get something much better. In the meantime, I would love to know what is exactly causing this BSOD whenever I enter sleep or hibernate.
What's peculiar, is that If I install XP, I've got no issue. It's only on Vista and Win 7.
Is it a driver issue ?
Thanks guys, I'll reply back ASAP, I want to get to the bottom of this ! :)
Any questions or If you need more info please just ask, I'll do my best.
My system specs are what follows :
eMachines E625 Laptop
Win 7 Home Premium 32bit
AMD Atlhon TF-20 1600MHz processor
4.0GB of RAM
ATI Radeon X1200
160GB HDD
Thanks again
Also here's a video I made a few months back relating to the sleep issue : (Sorry about the low sound, I've got a shitty camera, but I hope you'll get the jist of it)
