Blue Screen then loss of desktop

I was playing an MMORPG last night when i went to look at something in Firefox. Firefox was minimized at the time. When I clicked on the firefox icon on the taskbar to maximize it, it made a funny noise ending with a blue screen. Upon restart, I noticed I was at a default desktop with none of my icons or folders. It took me all night and with the help of my significant other, we were able to figure out that my stuff hasn't been deleted, it just was been hidden and not being used. It took another 4 hours to try to get the desktop back which was ultimately unsuccessful. I was able to find a thread about creating 2 more *Users* and copying and pasting the contents of the one user to the 3rd user by starting with the second user, but at first every time I tried to do this, access was denied when i tried to copy the contents. I'm getting really tired of Windows 7 denying me access to everything I want to do. (see another post under security I have in here). I don't understand why they give you the option to do something and then won't let you do it. I tried to contact Microsoft, but was told there would be a fee for asking them for help...... Finally through just repeating the same steps over and over and relogging and some luck, was able to create a new user and copy files over to that new user, but things are still not the same as the original user I had before the blue screen and now I have 2 copies of everything that I'm afraid to delete in case I missed something. Is there any way I can get my original user back? I know things are not the same still and I just want my original user destop back. System restore was worthless as I find it normally is and didn't work at all no matter how far back I went. The computer is barely 2 months old too. Anyone know anything about this or even why I got the blue screen in the first place, please help me out. thanks

    New Windows...

I don't have a copy of the windows disc or anything, computer didn't come with it. I only have a restore disk I made when I ran my first backup which also didn't help me last night at all. Don't think that will reinstall windows for me anyway. The amount of trouble I would have to go through to reinstall windows and all my programs and files doesn't seem worth it to me just to get my original "User" back. Is there no other way?

You can try a system restore.

Ya, I tried almost every restore point I had on there. The computer is less than 2 months old, so i went back as far as I could, but it didn't help. Actually told me couldn't restore to those points.
