    Corrupt File Error Message...

Hi guys. This is the first time I have a problem like this, but when I was trying to install a game today I got a error message at an early time during the installation that a file was corrupt. Here's the message: The following error occurred on the file 'E:/data2.cab' the file or directory is corrupt and unreadable. (0x570).
Again this is the first time I get this error message, I was told that I must do I disk check and repair, but I just wanted to confirm it here, I also heard that this disk check and repair can cause memory loss which I hope is not true.
Thank you for your help, I appreciate it.

based on your post, i would say that the problem comes from the game installer itself. is it from dvd? the data of the file might be corrupted
