Debug please!

Your computer is built by HP right? If I were you what I would do now is contact HP and try to get your computer fixed via them.

Make sure you accurately describe the problem.

Then it hangs and freezes at the HP screen (the first screen you see when you hit the power button)

That above line is the most crucial when trying to convince them it is a hardware problem rather than a Windows problem. The system will not do that if it is not a hardware problem.

i actually do need help with this, and i doubt HP would do anything to help as this computer is past its warranty. (Its about 3 years old)

The crashes seem pretty sporadic, it ranges from USB to ccsr.sys. and I have seen a number of people on the forums with the similar problem but no solution. So I'm pretty concerned as to if there really is a fix for this problem.

I'm trying to do another memtest with memtest86 but the computer wont boot from my disk, i set cdrom as first in the bios, don't understand.

Theres also a variety of bsods I have. Tews, I have windows 7 installed on this computer and it used to have vista, but having installed windows 7 doesn't that wipe out all of the drivers? shouldn't the intel driver be irrelevant? Also I am unsure as to how to fix the Intel Storage Matrix driver. Please provide steps on how to do so as I am a huge amateur.

HP M8430F

if you could look up those specs on the HP website.
I upgraded the power supply with an ANTEC Earthwatts 650
as well as an
ATI HD RADEON 4870

Yes it also crashes in safe mode if I just leave it running.
After 7 hard resets the computer runs fine.

Is the computer like a car? does it have to warm up before use?

It shouldn't need too. It does however seem like your problem's only occur when your computer is 'cold'

Download the auto-installer for USB from here, run it to install onto a USB stick, then boot from the USB stick instead of the CD drive.

It is almost certainly hardware.

Start with the memtest, then we will have to move onto other hardware troubleshooting.

ok so I used memtest86 and it returned with no errors.
did it for 8 passes, and left it on overnight.

also, I don't believe I have an intel storage matrix driver.
Is there any way I can find out if I have it or not? I would hate it if I installed a driver for something I don't have. Aren't Intel storage matrix drivers for computers with integrated graphics? Should I download and install it any way? Problems?

I HAVE FOUND THE PROBLEM
since BSODS occur during first boot up, I decided to do a memtest during the start
and it found 35 errors.

After finding those 35 errors, the computer crashes. So is it all 4 sticks of ram?

Also I have added a third party antec earthwatts 650 PSU is this the cause of my memory problems?

however i have tested 4 gigs of ram at the same time and im not sure which stick of ram is at fault. HOWEVER I do have extended warranty at Fry's but i have had a HORRIBLE experience with them charging me $70 for diagnostic fees and finding nothing hardware related to be at fault despite having argued with them for so long. But now I have taken pictures of the memtest

You guys think that these pictures I have will still allow them to weasel their way out of my warranty?

I have the # to the store manager because of a terrible experience i have had with their service dept.

are my specs OK? Im starting to wonder if its my PSU thats making my memory go bad
I'm assuming that its the new PSU thats causing my frequencies to go crazy, but I don't know anything about that.

Well, something is wrong with your CPU anyway.

Your CPU should be clocked at 2.4 GHz as shown here.

However it is shown on that link as only being 1.6Ghz.

Can you also upload a screenshot of just the Memory tab in CPU-Z as your link does not show that.

Have you changed the memory or the settings in the BIOS in any way?

Ok, so I uploadeed just the memory screen of it,

I don't think anythings wrong with the CPU, because if I open a program or a game. The 400mhz turns into 2.3999 ghz same thing with my laptop. I think when it's idling it lowers its clock speed to save energy.

It's been a while since I have used CPU-Z, I forgot that the memory info was actually under a different tab. Can you go to the SPD tab instead and take a screenshot for each one of the slots.
